Feature Friday • Snickering Bison

Stella is turning one on August 22nd!  Crazy to think how fast her first year has flown by!  Well I wanted to get a fun tutu for her to wear on her big day and of course for some fun pictures.

A friend of mine from my hometown, Stephanie Colson, has her own handmade business called Snickering Bison.  She makes these really cool crocheted monster hats.  I definitely want to get one for Stella for the winter, and I kinda want one for myself.  :)

Here are a couple of my favorites...

She crochets lots of other items, too.  When I was browsing her website, I saw that she also made tutus, and I knew I had to get one for Stella.  I contacted her last week, and she had it done in no time.  She was coming in the area for the weekend, so I got to meet up with her this past Saturday to pick it up.  It is SO stinkin' cute.  Stella loves how fluffy the tutu fits around her waist.

I can't wait to post more pics of Stella prancing around in her awesome new tutu!  Be sure to check out Steph's awesome handmade items at Snickering Bison!

Happy Friday,

Feature Friday • Theaircastle on Etsy

I love Etsy!  I can get lost in time just browsing all the super creative handmade items out there!  My recent obsession has been searching for handmade turtles in all sorts of different media.

I fell in love with these polymer clay turtles by artist, Jennifer Marsh.  Just look at all the detail she puts into her work!  She specializes in making her creations to be used as cake toppers for weddings.  I love this idea, because they are so cute to display on a shelf even after the wedding is over and the cake has been eaten!

She doesn't just make turtles either!  Look at these two little owls in love!  Love them!

There are so many more!  Check out the rest of her collection on her Etsy shop!

Feature Friday • Turtle Treasure

The other day I was searching the trademark database and found there were a few registered with "turtle treasure" in the name.  There was "Turtle Treasure," "Turtle Treasures," and "Turtle's Treasure's."  The only one that was still live was the first one, so I decided to plug it in to see if it had a domain name to check out what it was.  I'm not sure why I hadn't done that before, but I came across something pretty cool!

There is an artist, bj Mohrbacher, who searches the shores of Lake Erie for beach glass and pretty pebbles and rocks.  She then uses her findings to make the shells of these fun and unique sand turtles!  So creative!  I just love these!

Each turtle is named, and when one is purchased, it is actually "adopted!"  It's like you are rescuing a turtle.  So sweet!

I love how this one is a candle holder!

This little guy is so cute.   He's already been adopted, though.

I absolutely love the concept of this next one.

You can check out the rest of her turtles at her Turtle Treasures Facebook page or on her website at www.turtletreasure.com.   You might even learn something from her website, like:  "Turtle Fact: Turtles need Vitamin D just like we do.  That is one of the reasons they get out on a log to  “sun” themselves!"

Thanks for checking out our Feature Friday!
